Best sushi on Kauai

Don't walk, run.

WAAAY better than the tourist-y, upscale Kintaro. Very authentic Japanese with a wonderful sushi chef (wonderful with his artistry, wonderful with his charming and engaging manner). This place has apparently been there, in this same spot, since 1922. I'd say it's stood the test of time.

We were the only unescorted white people in the joint.

S & D each give Hanamaulu Sushi five stars.

We've been playing our asses off, ALL DAY, and we're getting pretty wiped. But we hang for the sunset.

Sunset at Ke'e

No shit. This was one of several shark sightings - sharks of the bitey variety - since we've been here. Eight people of our group saw a 12+ foot tiger in Wainiha Bay this same day. A 15 foot tiger surfaced in Hanalei Bay in pouring rain Saturday afternoon, and Deena and I were swimming in Hanalei Bay Saturday, in that same pouring rain. They like the murky effluent from the rain-swollen Hanalei river, I guess. I've never heard of this much activity on the North shore here.

Directly across the road from Opaekaa is the South fork of the Wailua River The big falls are on the North fork. I give Rayn bunny ears and freaking school her.
