Friday sunset - South coast again

Back at Poipu the second day in a row. I was chasing gthe good weather today. We've been getting a fair amount of rain, and I was definitely ready for some sun. We got it, at least after a 20-minute squall immediately upon our arrival. I was discouraged; Deena was more optimistic. It was raining sideways and it got pretty damn cold pretty damn fast, but sure enough, it blew right through. It was a great day - Doris sorta snorkeled, the rest of us snorkeled for real, the sun was perfect. We took Sharon out for dinner across the street at Kieko's. I had the opah (Hawaiian moonfish), which is, seriously, sooooooo good. Meredith - you had it last year. Super yummy, yes?

Plumeria

As far as scent, this is now my favorite flower. It looks purty, too.

Kauai jungle chicken

I love these guys. Some people consider them pests, what with the crowing all night and all, but really, look at this proud sumbitch. These guys (and the hens, and the chicks) run wild, everywhere, apparently since hurricane Iniki overturned all their cages back in the early 90's. They were the fnacy, tough fighting roosters, not eating stock, I believe. Yes, that goes on here, at least that's what I'm told. Lots of cultures here, and most don't think the way we do.
