The Interlopers

The blatant disregard of Tsuga's authority by our local squirrels continues. A pair has built a nest in the crook of one of our Doug firs. Yesterday they barked and scolded Tsuga for a good while. I don't know who was more agitated, them or her.

Playing with color settings..

Per Jim Grant's nudge, I tried Rockwell's suggested color optimization settings on both my D50 and D80. The improved vibrancy is indeed fun; I'll play with this some more.

Tsuga gives chase

Our dog is weird when it comes to other dogs - she wants to see them and gets excited when she spots them outside the car or whatever, but after a perfunctory sniff (for which she does not return the favor), she's bored and aloof.

Once in a while, after establishing that she's boss, she actually will play for a few moments, as above/

Dog Park at PIR

Our dog always whines when we approach a park, and especially a dog park. "There are dogs out there! We must stop!" But, confusing to me, once we're there, she's utterly aloof. So, here are dogs joyfully co-mingling and sniffing butts and chasing each other - while MY dog hangs back and looks disinterested all the while. Once in a while she meets a dog she likes and plays chase with him (always a him) for maybe 30-45 seconds. Or she'll growl at and boss around the crowd of dogs that runs up to greet her and sniff her nether areas. When she was a puppy, she was much more into it. I just don't know what's up her ass, but it's definitely the way she is.

Moo

There are several fields of cattle in the bottomlands the dog and I drive and walk each week. Whenever I stop to look at them, they all hurry over to us and check us out.

Blossoms

Haven't had the camera out enough yet this year.. Was starting to fear that I'd miss getting any of these captured..

Escape!

A couple squirrels live in the trees in our backyard. When they come down to dog-spottable level, the dog gets all pissed off as it's in clear violation of her rules. She goes utterly apeshit, running from window to window, whining and barking and growling and chuffing and warble-churfing. I let her out to "get" them, knowing she can never come close. It's amusing to us. As she sprints out to get 'em, they always just go straight up the tree or down the fenceline into the next yard.
